The first week of ESO Summer Camp is coming to an end and our 40 creative campers have been having a blast! Each day our campers venture into six classes to explore the arts and sciences of CREATING. Divided by a lunch break, a nap time and story time, our days have been filled to the brim with fun in the sun and the arts.
9AM - Lunch
Arts & Crafts with Kristin Aigner has campers creating portfolios, paintings, jewelry and more.
Circus Skills & Games is a fun activity time with Dana Floyd full of ice breakers, the outdoors and water.
Theatre with Clelia Jane Sheppard is when campers get to discuss what makes the characters in their favorite movies and plays act the way they do, and how to tell their own dramatic stories.
We have been lucky this week to be able to enjoy our lunch picnic style under the trees in our back yard. After we are full and well hydrated, we head inside for a well deserved (and needed) nap time & quiet time.
We have had three wonderful special guests this week to treat our campers to story time:
Tuesday we welcomed local author Anna Burger to ESO as she shared her books : "Pea Soup and the Seafood Feast" and "Sea Hunt."
Wednesday, Sally Dickinson from the Barrier Island Center, brought the Hog Island Sheep series to ESO for campers to learn about Hog Island and the history of the Eastern Shore.
Thursday, the Arts Council sponsored talented storyteller Sheila Arnold as she dazzled and mesmerized our campers with stories of love, confidence and power.
After story time, our campers explore three more fun filled classes:
Pottery with Elizabeth Hunt has campers creating various pottery, bowls and trinkets that are fired overnight in our kiln.
Music with Clelia Jane Sheppard takes popular and classic music apart to learn about different instruments and sounds- and how to create your own music.
Science with Dana Floyd is all about hands on learning from Weather Journals, Germination, Cola Geysers, Capillary Action and how to make Quick Sand.
We couldn't be more thrilled that so many wonderful families have decided to participate in this year's ESO Summer Arts Camp - and we are looking forward to even more fun next week!
